How can I check if I have packet loss while playing Fortnite?

Packet loss occurs when one or more packets of data sent from a computer to a server and back again fail to reach their destination. These packets become packet loss and can result in a poor gaming experience.

To see packet loss during a match you can do the following:

  1. Select your player icon in the upper right corner to open the social panel.
  2. Select Menu (gear with hamburger menu) near the bottom of the social panel.
  3. Select Settings.
  4. Click the fourth icon at the top of the screen to open the Game UI tab
  5. Scroll to the bottom, turn on Net Debug Stat

This will show you ping and pack loss when in a match (you must start a match to see real results). If you notice packet loss while playing on PC, you can try the following:

  1. Open the Epic Games Launcher.
  2. Click on Settings.
  3. Scroll down and expand Fortnite.
  4. Check the box next to Additional Command Line Arguments.
  5. Type -limitclientticks into the empty text field to throttle network updates.

If you're still experiencing packet loss after these changes, you can test your ping to our servers and reach out to your Internet Service Provider with your ping and packet loss information for assistance.
