I enabled 2FA but in Fortnite shows it is not active

  • If you have enabled 2FA, but Fortnite does not register the change this typically means the 2FA was activated on a different Epic Account from the one you usually play on. If this is the case, check that you are logged in to the account for which you want 2FA enabled and enable 2FA for that account by following the steps in this article: Two-factor authentication (2FA) and how to enable it.
  • If you are playing on a console, it may happen that your Epic Account does not have its own email address - which is required to enable 2FA. You can check if this is the case very easily by following the steps below:
    1. Go to www.epicgames.com
    2. Click on User Avatar (human silhouette icon) on top right
    3. If you see a menu with the option "Sign Out", click on it to sign out before proceeding to the next step. If, instead, you see the sign-in screen, continue to the next step.
    4. Once you are on the Sign in Screen, click on the logo of the Console you usually use to play (PS, Xbox, Nintendo)
    5. Enter your Console account email and password
    6. If you see a screen with a title "CREATE YOUR EPIC GAMES ACCOUNT" that means that your Epic Account doesn't have an email address assigned. Proceed to next step.
    7. Open this guide How do I upgrade a console or platform account to a full Epic Games account? and follow the steps (The upgrade is a free service).
Note: After successfully upgrading the account - all your progress and skins will remain as they are.
    8. After the upgrade process is completed, make sure you stay signed in to the account you just upgraded.
    9. Proceed to follow the steps in our guide on Two-factor authentication (2FA) and how to enable it on that account.
