EOS-ERR-1603

If you are receiving this error message it may prompted you to install Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5. In order to resolve this error do the following:

  1. When you receive the pop-up to install the .NET Framework 3.5, click on Download and install this feature.
  2. Once this is installed, click on Close.
  3. You will see the error appear again. Just close the error and start the install process for Epic Online Services. It should complete successfully.

If this doesn't work, please try the steps below;

  1. Run Epic Games Launcher as an administrator
    1. Right-click on Epic Games Launcher and select Run as administrator
    2. If UAC shows up, click Yes
    3. Try installing the required component again.
    4. If this doesn't work, move on to the next step
  2. Run all Windows updates
    1. Type Updates in Windows search and press Enter
    2. In the new window, click Check for updates
    3. Install everything available
    4. Reboot your system
    5. If this doesn't work, move on to the next step
  3. Grant write and read access to Epic Games Launcher
    1. Type Epic Games in Windows search
    2. Right-click and select Open file location
    3. Right-click on Epic Games Launcher and select Properties
    4. Go to the Security tab
    5. Select your username from the list
    6. Click on Edit
    7. Select your username and make sure the permissions for Read and Write are set to Allow
    8. Click Apply and OK
    9. If this doesn't work, move on to the next step
  4. Shut down Windows Installer service
    1. Press Ctrl + Shift + Esc on your keyboard to open the Task Manager
    2. Go to the Details tab
    3. Scroll down until you find msiexec.exe
    4. Highlight msiexec.exe and select End Task
    5. If this doesn't work, move on to the next step
  5. Run Install and Uninstall troubleshooter from Microsoft
    1. Visit the official Microsoft Website for the troubleshooter
    2. Click Download troubleshooter
    3. Once downloaded, double-click the MicrosoftProgram_Install_and_Uninstall.meta.diagcap file
    4. When launched, pick the Installing option
    5. If this doesn't work, move on to the next step
  6. Reinstall Epic Games Launcher on your main drive
    1. Press Win + E to open File Explorer
    2. Create the following folder/path: C:\\Program Files (x86)\\Epic Games
    3. Go to the following location: [your install location]\\Epic Games\\Launcher\\Portal\\Extras\\EOS
    4. Double-click EpicOnlineServics.msi and install it into the previously created location
