IS-0009: Manifest failed to load

This error occurs when the launcher is unable to download a game due to a corrupt or invalid file.


Manually uninstalling and reinstalling the game

If you remove and reinstall the game by removing its folder from your system then downloading it again this may resolve the issue.

  1. Exit the Epic Games Launcher by right-clicking on the system tray icon in the bottom right corner of your screen and clicking on Exit.
  2. Navigate to the directory you installed the game in question. The default installation directory for your games is C:\Program Files\Epic Games.
  3. Select the game folder that is having this error appear.
  4. Delete the selected game folder.
  5. Restart the Epic Games Launcher.
  6. Try installing the game again.

Delete the EpicGamesLauncher folder

  1. Open your Epic Games Launcher
  2. Go to the Library.
  3. Select the game with this error message.
  4. Click the meatball menu (3 horizontal dots)
  5. Select Manage.
  6. Click the folder icon next to Uninstall.
    File Explorer will open
  7. Close the Epic Game Launcher.
  8. Click the chevron icon (it looks like an arrow pointing up) in the lower right corner of the screen.
  9. Right-click on Epic Games Launcher.
  10. Select Exit.
  11. Click the up arrow icon in the upper left corner of File Explorer
    This will move you up 1 directory level
  12. Delete the Game folder (Ex. Fortnite)
  13. Press and hold the Windows key while tapping the R key.
  14. In the Run window type: %localappdata%
  15. Press the Enter key.
  16. In the new window look for the EpicGamesLauncher folder.
  17. Right click on the EpicGamesLauncher folder.
  18. Select Delete.
  19. Restart the Epic Games Launcher.
  20. Try installing the game again.
