Basic PC/Mac Troubleshooting

Last Updated: Jun 03, 2018 09:38PM EDT
If you are having technical issues while playing Fortnite on PC or Mac, we recommend trying all of the following steps:
  • Try cleanly reinstalling your GPU Drivers. To perform a clean GPU driver installation:
    1. Locate and download the latest drivers for your GPU.
      • For AMD GPUs, manually select a driver here or use their auto-detect tool here.
      • For NVIDIA GPUs, manually select your driver here or use their auto-detect tool here.
    2. Uninstall your current GPU drivers through Add/Remove Programs.
    3. Reboot your system.
    4. Locate and run the downloaded installation package for your GPU. Perform a minimal/custom installation and install the GPU drivers only.
    5. Reboot your system.
    6. Some users find that software utilities such as DDU are helpful to clean out all of the remnants of an old driver installation. However, this is generally not required.
  • Try all of our network troubleshooting steps.
  • Make sure that your OS is fully up to date and that your computer meets Fortnite's minimum specifications.
  • Try disabling all background applications to see if another program running on your computer is interfering with our software.
